Consciousness & Afterlife Research
Investigation of consciousness, near-death experiences, and survival hypotheses — without claiming proof.
QTI Research Philosophy
“QTI seeks extraordinary knowledge without extraordinary claims. We distinguish what is demonstrated from what is hypothesized, what is philosophically argued from what is experimentally established, and what is technologically possible from what has actually been built.”
The Hard Problem of Consciousness
PHILOSOPHICAL ARGUMENTWhy subjective experience exists at all — an open philosophical question, not a settled scientific one.
Near-Death Experiences (NDEs)
ANOMALOUS / UNDER INVESTIGATIONReported experiences during cardiac arrest. Evidence exists; competing neurological and survival explanations remain unresolved.
Survival Hypotheses
ANOMALOUS / UNDER INVESTIGATIONWhether consciousness persists after bodily death. Investigated without claiming proof.
Panpsychism & Integrated Information
PLAUSIBLE HYPOTHESISTheories that consciousness is fundamental to information integration. Reasonable but unconfirmed.
Quantum Consciousness
SPECULATIVE TECHNOLOGYProposals linking quantum processes to mind. Theoretically proposed, not demonstrated.
Afterlife Frameworks Across Traditions
THEOLOGICAL / RELIGIOUS CLAIMReligious and theological accounts of post-mortem existence, studied as tradition-derived claims.
QTI's consciousness program investigates whether consciousness can persist beyond the body without requiring anyone to die first. The research strategy relies on reversible, non-destructive methods: analysis of near-death experience reports, study of altered-state and meditative phenomena, examination of terminal lucidity and end-of-life cognition, and theoretical modeling — combined with honest acknowledgment of the limits of each method.
Limitations: NDE reports are retrospective and culturally mediated; meditative states are subjective; no current method can conclusively establish or rule out survival of consciousness. Competing hypotheses (neurological, survival, and theological) remain unresolved. Findings are classified as anomalous or philosophical until reproducible evidence exists — never as proof.
